Review: Pantene's New Gold Series Moisture Boost Line
February 10, 2017
At the start of 2017 Pantene dropped the Gold Series, a collection of cleansing and styling products specifically made for women of color. Pantene may not be the first line you think of when it comes to taking care of natural hair, but the brand worked hard on this collection, bringing together a team of Black scientists, dermatologists, hairstylists and more -- some of whom donated their own hair to this project -- to make sure the finished product would be something Black women would actually buy.
I first tried the line at home for my standard wash n'go style and was quite happy with the results. I didn't know at the time that what sets the moisture boost shampoo apart from other cleansers that also promise intense hydration is Pantene's shampoo has special technology that's the first of its kind to actually add moisture into hair during the cleansing phase. We tend to not get to real moisturizing until after we've conditioned and detangled our hair, but it makes such a difference to begin with hydration and keep building on that hydration throughout the conditioning and styling process.
Pantene also invited me to experience the new collection in salon with styling by celebrity hairstylist Chuck Amos who created an amazing curly fro on me after washing and conditioning with the line and adding the hydrating butter creme and intense hydrating oil before curling my hair with a small wand.
Check my thoughts on the results in the video below.
The next morning I separated my curls with a dab of the oil to prevent frizz and fluffed my fro and my hair was perfect -- and lasted through a kickboxing workout!
Pantene's Gold Series collection was literally 10 years in the making and I have to say it was well worth the wait.
